India was named as the most stressed country with 70.4 points. Indonesia is among the world’s less stressed countries, according to recent survey released by insurance company Cigna.

First launched in 2014, the Cigna 360° Well-Being Survey -- Future Assured explores people’s perceptions and concerns on well-being in five key areas, namely physical, family, social, financial and work.

This year, the survey was conducted in 23 countries and involved 14,500 respondents.

Based on the survey, the stress level of the respondents in Indonesia was only 61 points, compared with the global average of 61.2 points. India was named as the most stressed country with 70.4 points.

Cigna Indonesia said in a statement that Indonesia’s stress level was considered low because only 75 percent of the respondents claimed that they suffered from stress, compared to a global average of 86 percent. In comparison, more than 91 percent of respondents in Singapore and Thailand claimed that they suffered from stress.

Half of the respondents, who suffer from stress, said they controlled it by sharing it with family or friends.

Meanwhile, 25 percent of the respondents in Indonesia claimed that they did not suffer from stress.

Cigna Indonesia director and chief marketing officer Ben Furneaux said financial conditions and the work environment were the two main causes of stress.

“Our survey revealed several causes of stress, including a poor relationship with a superior in the workplace and the inability to tend to parents’ needs, health and well-being,” added Furneaux. (jes/kes)
